The fall brings the most popular wedding season which means almost all vendors including makeup and hair artists book weddings a year in advance! Don’t know where to start when looking for a makeup and hair artist?
Our Guest blog contributor is Ashley from Unveiled Artistry! They recently was at our bridal suite, at The Barn at Poplar Springs, providing hair and makeup services for one of our beautiful brides. See what Unveiled Artistry has to say about Fall Wedding Makeup Trends:
Check out their social media, website or portfolio! If you don’t see at least one previous client of the artists that you vibe with or like the look, that artist probably isn’t for you!! If you see key points from multiple clients that you like and feel confident that the artist can give you your specialized bridal look, then that artist is the one for you!!
Inquire about services with the artist to make sure they have the date available and to see if they are in your budget!
If your artist is available for your date and within your budget, it’s time to book! This should include a deposit/retainer fee and a contract!
Trial Runs / Bridal Previews
While wanting a trial run before you book with an artist isn’t ideal since your wedding date won’t be saved, we understand that most women have makeup and hair horror stories! Some artists won’t accept this request based on availability but I personally will try to make the time for you!
Although, I love to tell my clients to use their trial run/bridal preview for bridal portraits, engagement photoshoot, bridal shower or any other event they have coming up so they don’t have to waste it!
The ideal timeframe for trial runs/bridal previews would be 2-3 months before your wedding date! See bridal trial tips!
Fall Season Makeup Tips and Trends:
It is important to look cohesive with your wedding decor and the venue scenery!
Skin Prep!
With the weather becoming cooler, you want to make sure your skin is fully hydrated while also making sure your makeup lasts all day!
The night before, it is best to cleanse, tone, exfoliate, and moisturize. The morning of, cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin! It is advised to see an esthetician months before your wedding to start a skincare routine as makeup is only as good as your skin!
Before starting your wedding makeup, explain to your artist where you get dry/oily/sweaty during the day so the artist can prep your skin correctly!
Make sure your makeup is set all day with setting spray! My favorite bridal sprays are…
One/Size On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray
Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray - Bridal Formula
Color Schemes!
While the season changes your wedding decor, it should also alter your wedding makeup! Your makeup certainly doesn’t have to match your wedding decor but you don’t want it to clash either!
Eyeshadow:
Neutral earth-tones are stunning in the fall! Browns, taupe's, rust tones blended into either a light or bold smoked out look is the way to go! You can either lighten it up in the inner corner of the eye with a light beige matte or champagne/golden shimmer shadow! Personal favorite is definitely shimmer to make the eyes pop!
Blush:
Pink is always in season but the tone matters! For fall, mauve or berry toned blushes can accentuate your cheeks beautifully while being in season!
Tip: allow your artist to add more blush, it is the first product to fade on your face and you want to make sure you have color all day long! After photographers edit your pictures, it can also washout most of it so you want it to show up!!
Lips:
similar to blush, a mauve or berry color is absolutely stunning on a fall bride! You could also go for more of a nude pink or brown tone depending on your skin tone!
My go-to bridal lipstick is the Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lip color in shades Captivated, Charmed, Cheeky, and Witty (lightest to darkest shades).
